Mivel nagyon intelligensek, okosak, sokféle területen megállják a helyüket, legyen az akár retriever vagy terápiás munka, bármilyen kutyás sport, kivéve őrző-védő sportok, mert arra teljességgel alkalmatlanok. A rájuk fordított idő hiányában azonban elkezdenek unatkozni, ki nem elégített szellemi és fizikai igényüket legtöbbször rombolásra fordíthatják, átrendezhetik a kertet és a lakást.
